At our Christmas Party last Sunday (17th December) there was something for everyone as riders and volunteers from other days were encouraged to join the usual Sunday riders for games on horseback, quizzes, the 'Best Decorated Hat', delicious food and mulled wine which was especially appreciated on a cold December afternoon.Another thing to brighten our spirits was the £60plus which Jacob Everall raised for us with his 'Guess the Number of Christmas Lights Around Acrecliffe' competition. Thank you, Jacob.
Alice won the prize for the Best Decorated Riding Hat. Four teams of five riders each took part in the riding competitions. Winners were:
Musical Cones
(Teams 1 and 3) - Emma on Snowy.
(Teams 2 and 4) - tie between Toby on Clyde and Elaine on Seamus.
Relay Games
Team 1 - (Megan on Sylvester, Janet on Silver, Alice on Sylvester, Amelia on Blackie and Ann on Tico).
Quiz
Team 2 (Hywel, Helena, Tanika, Jennifer and Nick)
The helpers also had a quick, but keenly contested, relay game of their own at the end, cheered on from the gallery by their own teams.
The afternoon was well organised and co-ordinated by instructor Nikki Francis, with help from Bernadette and Georgina Spellman who all put a lot of hard work into the event. Other helpers, behind the scenes were Barbara, who co-ordinated the food and drink and Cathy and Ruth who, as ever, waged war on mud to keep our portakabin clean.
Some of the horses also worked very hard so let's not forget Clyde, Sylvester, Silver, Snowy, Tico, Blackie, Seamus and Blue for all their help.
Normal classes resume on Sunday January 6th.
