11 May 2007 - Report on the Region's Garden Party
The weather managed to hold off until after 4pm so most people who had thought about coming probably did arrive. This was a big relief to the organisers of the Garden Party for the Riding for the Disabled Yorkshire and Cleveland Region. A good crowd came to support the event - this was very pleasing as there were so many other events taking place over the weekend.
This is the third year that Roger Tempest from Broughton Hall has kindly allowed the RDA to use the fantastic facilities at Utopia (the amazing modern building set in the walled gardens at the hall)
The garden party was opened by Elizadoolittle ridden by Kathryn Wheelock. Speeches were minimal and Eliza, Kathryn's new dressage horse, was pleased to tuck into some carrots and get on with the proceedings of the afternoon. Kathryn rides in Paralympic dressage for Ireland and is aiming at the World Championships in Hartpury during July this year
There were stalls, delicious afternoon teas and a massive raffle with lots of prizes. Everyone had a lovely afternoon.
County Chairman Jan Wheelock, who organised the event, would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported it. "We very much appreciate everyone's input." she said.
