This is Willoughby, our latest recruit. He has been very kindly offered to us on loan and looks as if he'll be a big asset to our group..But Willoughby has not been used for RDA work before and so he is here for a month to see if he likes being with us and if he possesses the attributes needed by an RDA pony. Currently, in this settling in period, he is being ridden only by instructors and very experienced riders such as Bernadette who is helping him with his training in the picture opposite.
It seems that Willoughby is settling in nicely and enjoying his new routine. Last Sunday he looked rather surprised by the clatter of a rider's walking frame but reacted well and soon got used to it. This is exactly how we need him to behave. Lots of things will be different for him at first but he seems a quick learner who will adapt easily.
