27 Sep 2007 - Thank You, Abbi
Abbi joined us when she came to university and has participated in virtually every aspect of an RDA group, including raising well over £1,000 for us single-handedly with first a Fire Walk and then a 10k Run.
We broke her in gently with the usual leading and sidewalking, tested her by asking her to do it for a full week on the residential riding holidays and then got her up at unearthly hours on freezing winter mornings to prepare horses, tack and riders for competitions. Abbi soaked it all up and still came back for more so, recently, she has been learning how to instruct.
Sadly, that will have to go into abeyance now as her new job will take her too far away. We hope that our loss will be some other group's gain and look forward to seeing her again - and using her many talents - whenever she can come back this way. Thanks, Abbi. You'll be much missed.
ABBI WRITES
In the four years since I first involved myself I have had some many wonderful experiences: holidays, competitions and sponsored rides spring to mind but also so many great Sunday afternoons at Acrecliffe.
I shall miss a lot of friends now I have moved away but I'm sure I won't stay a stranger. Can you thank them all for the many things I have learnt from them: not to mention doing my first dressage test, travelling in a horse box for the first time, and knowledge as to just how much work is really involved in being a groom! It really has been an awful lot of fun. I can't believe how much I have done in the last four years.
